The fact is that our movies have been released, over and over, almost since the beginning of time. The only reason we have the knowledge we have about movies is because we have watched them. The only reason we know there are more than 100 in existence is because they have been so incredibly difficult to find.

A recent study of movies fans found that watching them once a day for 10 years at a minimum has a positive effect on the brain, but that the effect is more of mind-blowing than anything else. Apparently the brains of movie watchers have so much of the same circuits that they have from watching TV that they are able to remember things from the past.

There is a lot of evidence that the more a person is exposed to certain stimuli, the more they remember. It may be the case that a similar brain-activation occurs when watching movies. We probably all remember things from the movies we watched so we can more easily remember things we did.

Maybe not. I haven’t watched a lot of movies recently so I can’t speak to whether the brain-activation factor applies to movies. But because I don’t watch a lot of movies and so I don’t have the same kind of exposure to TV and movies, I tend to have a much lower “memory for movies” than most.
