You may have heard the name “Louis Gossett” but did you know there are more than 50 movies and television shows based on his works? These are great to watch as well.
There’s a famous quote from Louis Gossett Jr.’s most famous movie Mr. Deeds: “You can have more movies than you can have clothes. I mean you can have all the clothes you want, but you can’t have any more movies than you can have clothes.
This is all pretty great, but I think it’s important to note that Gossett was an incredibly prolific screenwriter and author. He wrote over 600 screenplays in his lifetime (as well as some of the best fiction and non-fiction books), and is often credited as the father of the “slasher film.” In fact, he is the author of the classic “The Blob”.
I’ve never read a book by a writer that I have never read and I like to say this, “I’ve read them all, but I know I should have.” So I was a bit obsessed with the movie “The Blob,” so I watched “The Blob” and I think the story about a group of slasher writers who find themselves on the wrong side of the cliffhanger is as good as any.
I would suggest reading a few more of the books. I’ve read The Blob many times and can’t imagine how hard it must have been to write that story. It is a true classic, and a must-have story for any slasher fan.
I have read all of the books, so I could be wrong, but I am not sure that The Blob is a true classic. The story of a bunch of slasher writers going through a series of near-death experiences and getting to the bottom of a murder (which they never find out about) is a nice twist on the slasher genre. The writers are at the mercy of the killer(s), and their memories of the events are the only thing they have to hold onto.
I’m sure louis gossett jr. movies and tv shows are great, but it is a classic and I agree that it is a good story. But I also think that a lot of slashers just play the “everyone is going to die but me” trope. Just don’t expect to see the “you should see a slasher” jokes much anymore.
That’s certainly true, but that’s a problem in a slasher movie. As a viewer I want the killer to know I’m looking, to at least have a clue where the killer is. I don’t want to see a killer who is making it very clear that they’re going to kill me, but I do want to see a killer who’s not going to kill me.
Nowadays there is a lot of slasher movies where the killer is in a very big box, but there are also slasher movies like some of the other ones, and they have a lot of slasher content.
As far as I’m aware there is no slasher movie with a killer in a very big box, and in that case its very clear who the killer is. We are talking about a very specific case here though.
